I was a guest artist in my friend Ark Angel’s body painting booth at the Everything to do with sex show, that was held in London in 2009. What I do in her booth is primarily airbrush temporary tattoos on customers that are interested in getting temporary body art but I also do body painting and face painting on customers and for live demonstrations as well.
On the second day of the show a big show was playing on the main stage that attracted most of the show goers. This afforded me time to sit down and do something to my face which is always a huge hit with the crowds.
Having a painted face at events that I am working at makes me more money compared to not having it painted, from my experiences. A well made-up face really wows event goers because it simply shocks them visually, just enough to get that “wow” from their mouthes. If there are any kids around, then they will immediately begin to let their parents know that they too want painted faces, trust me.
There is never a shortage of paints and tools to apply them with in a body painting booth, that’s for sure. Between Ark Angel and I, we had multiple compressors, airbrushes, brushes, types of paints and varieties of paints as well.
To paint my face I needed:
- a mirror,
- a table nearby to rest the paints and tools onto,
- a chair to sit on,
- about one hour of time for painting,
- good music
- and a drink with a straw to drink from because I was painting my lips.
- I used Snazaroo face painting paints which come in puck form, for this project,
- a variety of synthetic brushes ranging from a # 1 liner to a 4 inch wide flat wash brush.
- An Iwata brand airbrush model Eclipse and a diaphragm compressor.
